Ventura beach, after surfing and swimming for a day. The sun beating down in that one spot is highlighting the exact spot that we had just seen about 20 dolphins. It was such a beautiful and peaceful experience that would not have been served justice with a normal cell phone camera.
We somehow found a boil of barracuda, and the crew stated they had never seen anything like it before. They stopped everything and threw in their own lines to get as many as they could, stating the barracuda would be eating all of the other fish and squid in this favorite fishing spot and disrupt it. Between all of us, the boat deck was covered in so many live barracuda that you couldn't walk without one snapping at your feet. We had so many that we were giving frozen fish away to whomever needed some.
The glow of the ocean horizon, at daybreak, from a tub in our oceanside room in Santa Barbara, CA
We always love anything "Tree of Life" and found this painting in a tasting room in Ojai, CA
One of our favorite parts of the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit in Los Angeles, CA. It's definitely worth the trip to wherever it is showing next

After a business conference in Dallas, TX, and after we were evacuated from our hotel in the middle of a freezing winter night, for no good reason, a plane on the runway was on fire. Rather than allowing us to take off and get out of there, they had us taxiing around the scene. When we got to our layover in Las Vegas, NV, the airline had cancelled multiple flights. We left the airport quickly, as it was packed full of angry people, either trying to leave Vegas or get to their final destination. It quickly became a madhouse and was rapidly becoming more and more aggressive in the airport. The picture in the middle is the view of snowy mountains and palm trees, from our World Mark condo. We were stuck there for a few days, but ended up with a nice, quiet condo with a full kitchen, fireplace, balcony and in-room laundry. It was cleaner and friendlier than any place on the strip, and we can't wait to go back in the summer and enjoy the lazy river, firepits and cabana service.
If you ever get the chance to hop a train, without knowing your destination, do it! We woke one morning, packed a few backpacks, and took an early train in Southern California. Not knowing where we were going to end up was the best part. We made a pact to get off the train somewhere that we both are drawn to. We spent hours on the train, meeting people, having a glass of wine with another couple and laughing about stories we share. Eventually, we decided we wanted to get some exercise and saw a beautiful view of the ocean. After crossing the tracks at the Oceanside Train Station, we found ourselves in the middle of a cute little ocean town, with friendly people, fairly nice restaurants and bars, and two of our favorite flowers on our trip. We discussed Tuaca and the history of a bunch of wines with a well-traveled, Hungarian bartender; helped polish a beautiful, classic car; and walked for at least an hour in the wrong direction to our ocean-front motel. It was a great trip full of laughs and interesting people.
